Ceremonies

At the House of Mica we hold regular ceremonies in addition to periodic special events.  These include timeless traditions of purifying sweat lodges, peace generating fire ceremonies, and  sacred dance.  Each ceremony offers the individual a chance for reflection and growth, as well a harmonious connection with nature, fellow beings, and Spirit.

Fire Ceremony

On the 7th of each month at 7:00 pm a fire ceremony is conducted at the House of Mica Peace Chamber.  In this ceremony a sacred fire is made by stacking ten pairs of small logs.  Prayers for personal healing, healing of our families and world peace are offered before the fire is lit.  As participants watch the fire burn, it becomes a teacher, revealing images, and generating the energy of purification.  Participants “read” the messages of the fire and the embers and share the teachings with each other.

Sweat LOdge

In the Sweat Lodge Ceremony we enter a small lodge made of saplings.  Stones, which have been heated in a fire, are passed into a central pit in the lodge.  Water and herbs are placed on the stones and a fragrant steam rises.  Prayers are offered to the spirit of the four directions and each person has an opportunity to pray for healing for themselves, their family and the world.  We emerge from the Sweat Lodge spiritually renewed.

Sacred dance

We hold several different sacred dances including an annual Sun-Moon Dance at mid-summer and a Long Dance in the Fall.
