Creating 24 hours of Continuous Chanting for Peace
Call for Chanters World-WideThe House of Mica Peace Chamber is putting out the call again this year to create 24 hours of continuous chanting for peace across the December solstice, beginingon December 21st at 6pm Universal Time (12/21, 1pm US east coast time) to December 22nd at 6pm Universal Time (12/22, 1pm US east coast time). The December solstice is the Winter Solstice for the Northern Hemipshere and it is the Summer Solstice for the Southern Hemisphere. We invite you to chant in your chamber for an hour or if you don't have a chamber or even a group, feel free to chant anywhere, with friends or by yourself. You won't be chanting alone!

Dec 21, 6:30pm to 8:00pmWe invite the House of Mica community to come together again this year to chant for peace at our winter solstice. This is a specal event each year, marking the holiday season with ceremony and coming together of our community. Please arrive between 6:00 and 6:30 pm as we will start with opening prayers at 6:30 pm so that we can begin our hour of chanting promptly at 7pm. After our chanting we will come together for pot luck deserts.
We will offer all donations from this evening to the Regional Food Bank. Please email homica@nycp.rr.com if you would like to attend. |
By chanting at the Solstice we are honoring the turning of the seasons in a sacred manner. Beautiful Painted Arrow has urged us to chant the vowel sounds as part of our ceremonies for peace. We have chanted the vowel sounds during solstice chanting for more than 10 years and we are happy to chant the vowel sounds again this year with renewed vigor. Beautiful Painted Arrow teaches that the vowels are the power behind the language and he shares the following meaning for each vowel:
a pronounced "ah" as in ma = purification or to cleanse
e pronounced as "eh" as in pet = placement and relationship
i pronounced "ee" as in tree = awareness
o pronounced "o" as in grow = innocence or teachability
u pronounced as "u" as in true = carrying or being carried
The theme for this year's chanting is in line with the meaning of the vowel sounds as taught by Beautfiul Painted Arrow. The focus of our chanting this year is as follows:
"Let us cleanse (ah) our relationship (eh) with consmic awareness (ee) so that we may awaken (ee) to the ancient teaching (o) that all of creation is sustained and carried (u) within the vast self, in this moment and every moment in time."
